Hi Colleagues,
For you that were interested in our test, we have been able to develop a planning model integrating BPC 10.1 and BW/IP functionality, without having HANA, and it's working fine!!!
We are sharing the BPC Cubes and Dimensions, and we are reading and writing back from EPM and IP, even using the standard top down distribution from BEX. We are also using the combined locking and authorization mechanisms from BPC and BW.
The only restriction is that when using the unified model, you need to keep the technical names for cubes and IO, what we are doing by using the corresponding BPC parameter.
What is very interesting about the unified model, specially for planning, is that the IP functionality allows you to build more complex planning scenarios and functions, and the performance is better than with BPC and EPM.
What is not so good, is that you can't execute the BEX input queries from the BPC BPF, so the users need to use two different add-ins in excel.
To avoid this, we are now testing if we can integrate EPM and BEX reports using Analysis for excel, and how all this can be integrated within the BI Launch pad, as we are also using Lumira for dashboards, extracting data from the unified model.
I'm more than interested in sharing experiences with other people that are working with the unified version, with or without HANA.
Regards,
David Kennedy
